Comatose

Welcome to Comatose.org

Have you had a comatose related experience or do you know someone who has? I have, and it is an experience that had a profound impact on me for the good. I spent 23 days in a drug enduced coma after experiencing an allergic reacton to an antibiotic called Bactrim. The allergic reaction started out as a rash that looked like little red pins and needles on my chest and neck that progressed into a very high temperature of over 102 degrees. Within 24 hours this progressed into Stephens Johnson Syndrome, where I went into antifalatic shock and my lungs collapsed. Fortunately, I was in the hospital when my lungs failed and I was recesitated by an alert nurse, and was taken to the ICU where I was intubated and placed on a life support system. This was the beginning of a very strange period of time where I remained comatose for a period of 23 days. I have excellent recollection of the ordeal even though I was in a deep state of mind far away from this medical state of affairs. My total recovery took well over a year and the only permanent scar from the ordeal is my total right hip replacement. Even the doctors were scratching their heads on this one. "How could an allergic reaction to a prescription drug cause a patient to have a total hip replacement?" You will fine an explanation in the forum section of this site. My experience while in this comatose state was very interesting and I plan on sharing a part of this experience with you. The coma and long recovery set my life on a new course that I continue to travel with unique insights on life, for the good.
